A cowardly cat has several adventures involving pugnacious mice.

一个小男孩听闻了关于伦敦的奇妙故事，据说那里的街道都铺着金子。于是，他离开乡村老家，前往伦敦去碰碰运气。

An old English legend about a poor boy who became mayor of London served as the basis for a television adaptation. The orphan Dick Whittington was blessed with nothing more and nothing less than honesty, hard work, sincerity, a sense of honor, and justice. Together with a stroke of luck, it is precisely these character traits that help him become a respected and wealthy young man and a loving husband. And so this charmingly old-fashioned story, in which decency, diligence, and personal effort lead to success and fulfillment in life, retains its appealing and necessary relevance to this day.

But Dick's best friend and house-mate, Reece, who had been posing as a blind beggar, is not impressed. And so, in rival response, decides to reinvent himself as a spiritual healer. Despite the direct competition, and Reece's deliberate attempts at sabotage, Dick's Clinic thrives. Dirt cheap mental health proves to be an unexpected hit to the bottom feeders of suburbia. Dick soon finds himself dealing with a clientèle whose problems not only test his skill as a therapist, but also his patience. And amid the disfunction of Dick's chosen course, he begins ...

First staged at Lyric Hammersmith in 2018 and freshly updated for 2020, Ned Bennett directs this wild and inventive production and explores what it is like to come from a small town and arrive in a big city today. Ensemble children's show with skits led by host Alice Playten (and her friend named “Me“) and random stories told by Whitman Mayo.
